The Department of Natural Resources recognizes role big river systems -- like the Mississippi and Missouri rivers -- have played and continue to play in the state's health and well being. Because of that, the department offers curriculum developed to help teachers share the importance of these river systems with their students.

The department supports the efforts of private organizations to improve our river systems through volunteer cleanup efforts.
