JEFFERSON CITY, MO, NOV. 28, 2005 -- The Missouri Air Conservation Commission will hold a public meeting at 9 a.m., Dec. 8, at the University Plaza Hotel, Colorado Room, 333 John Q. Hammons Parkway in Springfield.
The hearing officer for the City Utilities of Springfield permit appeal will present to the commission his findings and a recommended action. The Air Pollution Control Program issued a permit to City Utilities on Dec. 14, for the authority to construct a 2,724 million British thermal unit per hour (275 megwatts net) pulverized coal fired boiler and associated equipment at its existing Southwest Power Station. On Jan. 14, the Air Pollution Control Program received an appeal of City Utilities of Springfield's Permit from Linda Chipperfield and the Sierra Club. An appeal hearing was held Oct. 11-13.
At this meeting, the commission will also hold a public hearing on an amendment to10 CSR 10-5.510 Control of Emissions of Nitrogen Oxides. This proposed amendment adds another test method that determines nitrogen oxide (NOx) emission rates to the list of acceptable emission test methods. By including the new method in the rule, industries will not need to request agency approval to use the alternate method.
