PUBLIC HEARINGS ON FORT LEONARD WOOD AIR PERMIT

JEFFERSON CITY, MO, OCT. 18, 2004 -- The Missouri Department of Natural Resources will hold two public hearings on the draft Title V air pollution operating permit for U.S. Army MANSCEN and Fort Leonard Wood. The first hearing will be held Wednesday, October 20 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Room 116 of the Wainwright State Office Building, 111 N. Seventh St., St. Louis. The department will hold a second hearing in Waynesville. The department is still finalizing details for the Waynesville hearing.

The permit addresses operating requirements for Fort Leonard Wood for all sources with the potential to produce regulated quantities of air pollutants. A copy of the draft operating permit is available for public review at the following locations:

During the public comment period, Missouri Coalition for the Environment requested that the department hold a hearing on the operating permit for Fort Leonard Wood. The department worked with the Coalition for the Environment and Fort Leonard Wood to schedule the public hearings. The official comment period ended on Aug. 22, 2004.

Citizens may make a request to speak at the hearing in advance, sign up to speak at the hearing or submit comments in writing at either hearing.
