Public awareness session on proposed Sikeston utility waste landfill Dec. 11
Jefferson City, Mo. - The Missouri Department of Natural Resources will hold a public awareness session on Dec. 11 to answer questions concerning the proposed construction of the Sikeston Utility Waste Landfill in Scott County.
This public session will explain the application review process and the approximate timeline for the permit application. The session will include representatives from the department and Sikeston Power Plant, and will begin at 7 p.m. in the Clinton Building, 501 Campanella Drive, Sikeston.
The Department of Natural Resources has approved Sikeston Power Plant’s request to begin a geologic investigation for the construction of the landfill, which will be located at 1551 W. Wakefield Ave. The proposed site is adjacent to the Sikeston Power Plant, approximately one mile north of the intersection of Hwy BB and Hwy 114.
