Jefferson City, Mo. - Visitors to the Felix Vallé House State Historic Site will be able to experience the sights, sounds and tastes of a traditional French Christmas of the early 1800's as part of Ste. Genevieve’s annual Le Réveillon celebration. Sponsored by Missouri State Parks, the event is part of Le Réveillon, Ste. Genevieve’s annual celebration highlighting the music, customs, and crafts of an early French Colonial Christmas.
Guests are invited to stop in from 1-6 p.m. to see the traditional, historic decorations. Dulcimer player Rick Thum will be performing an assortment of French carols and traditional holiday music beginning at 2 p.m. Costumed guides will be available to explain the holiday customs, and visitors can sample dessert items commonly served during a traditional French feast, including bûche de Noël, a sweet rendition of the yule log.
