The public is invited to bring their ideas to an open house Tuesday, June 5 at Grand Gulf State Park near Thayer. Sponsored by Missouri State Parks, the open house will be held at 5 p.m. at the park’s picnic area.
Representatives from the park will be on hand to provide information and answer questions. Visitors are invited to share comments on the park and its facilities. During the open house, telescopes will be available to observe the Transit of Venus, a rare astronomical event where Venus moves across the face of the sun. This will be the last time to observe the transit until the year 2119.
The open house is part an ongoing effort by Missouri State Parks to ensure the public has input on services provided in state parks and historic sites.
Grand Gulf State Park is located six miles west of Thayer off Highway W. People requiring special services or accommodations to attend the meeting can make arrangements by calling Grand Gulf State Park at 417-264-7600.
