Open house and birthday party planned Nov. 21 at Scott Joplin House State Historic Site

JEFFERSON CITY, MO, NOV. 15, 2010 -- The Missouri Department of Natural Resources invites you to bring your ideas to an open house and birthday party Sunday, Nov. 21 at the Scott Joplin House State Historic Site in St. Louis. The open house will be held from noon to 3 p.m. and the public is invited to attend. 

Staff from the historic site will be on hand to provide information about the site, answer questions and to celebrate Scott Joplin’s birthday. Ptah Williams, a jazz and classical pianist from St. Louis, will be performing from the Scott Joplin playbook.

Recent accomplishments and future plans will be highlighted during the open house. Agenda items will include a discussion on capital improvements at the site and information about volunteer opportunities will be available. Visitors are invited to share comments on the historic site’s services and operations.

The informational meeting is part of an ongoing effort to ensure the public has an opportunity to provide input regarding services provided in state parks and historic sites.
