Department of Natural Resources awards Gilman City $100,000 for drinking water system improvements

JEFFERSON CITY, MO, NOV. 2, 2010 –The Missouri Department of Natural Resources has awarded Gilman City, in Harrison County, a $100,000 small-borrower loan to finance necessary upgrades and repairs to the city’s water storage tank and remote read water meters.
The loan is expected to cover the entire cost of the $100,000 project.
The department sold $50 million in bonds in November 2007. The sale of the bonds allows the department to provide the city with the loan funds to support the Clean Water Initiative for water and wastewater improvements.
The Department of Natural Resources’ Water Protection Program will administer the loan funds. The department is committed to working closely with communities to assist with funding efforts that support water and wastewater infrastructure improvement projects as well as provide a financial savings.
