Hazardous Waste Management Commission to confirm commission liaison, hear hazardous waste updates

JEFFERSON CITY, MO, OCT. 8, 2010 -- The Hazardous Waste Management Commission will hold a regularly scheduled meeting Oct. 14 in Jefferson City.
The commission will vote on confirming the new Hazardous Waste Program Director, David Lamb, as the department’s liaison to the Hazardous Waste Management Commission. Lamb, who has been with the department for more than 15 years, became director of the Hazardous Waste Program in September.
Program staff will provide an update of the Hazardous Waste Program’s budget. This information is included in most recent Hazardous Waste Management Commission Quarterly report, which will also be presented at the meeting, available online at dnr.mo.gov/env/hwp/quarterlyreport.htm.
The commission will also hear updates about program rulemakings. These rulemakings are listed on the program’s Rules in Development Web page at dnr.mo.gov/env/hwp/rules-dev-hwp.htm.
The meeting starts at 9 a.m. at the Missouri Department of Natural Resources' Elm Street Conference Center at 1730 E. Elm St. in Jefferson City.
The Hazardous Waste Management Commission was established by state statute and promotes hazardous waste recycling, reuse and reduction; adopts and modifies rules to implement hazardous waste statutes; and establishes regulations for the management of hazardous waste. The commission provides oversight of decisions made by the department and rules on requests for variances from hazardous waste management regulations.
