Participate in a Solar Picnic June 19 at Onondaga Cave State Park

JEFFERSON CITY, MO., JUNE 1, 2010 – Learn about the many uses of the sun during a family friendly Solar Picnic on June 19 at Onondaga Cave State Park near Leasburg. Sponsored by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, this free educational program is designed for all ages and will begin at noon outside the park's visitor center.
Visitors can learn about the many uses of the sun, including cooking. Various types of solar ovens, both commercial and "home made," will be on display and visitors will get to sample solar-cooked food. Family friendly sun-related crafts and activities will be available.
To reach, Onondaga Cave State Park, take the Leasburg exit (#214) off of Interstate 44 and go seven miles south on Highway H.
