JEFFERSON CITY, MO., MARCH 8, 2010 -- Campers wanting to take advantage of the new upgraded campsites at Table Rock State Park near Branson can begin making reservations for the official opening of the sites May 17, the Missouri Department of Natural Resources announced today.

The department recently completed upgrading 21 sites and adding one completely new site in the park's Campground #2. The improvements included a complete renovation of the sites, with a new enlarged camping pad, picnic tables and grills. Ten sewer/electric/water campsites were upgraded from 30 amp to 50 amp service, and 11 sites with 30 amp electric were upgraded to 50 amp sewer/electric/water sites. One new sewer/electric/water 50 amp site was added.

"The upgraded campsites provide the kind of amenities today's recreational vehicle campers want and expect. These better serve our users and I expect they will be very popular sites," said Bill Bryan, director of the department's Division of State Parks.

The project also involved replacing and upgrading the old sewer lines, which will improve the overall function and operation of the campground as well as protect the environment.

The campsites will be open officially May 17 but campers can begin making reservations now for arrival on May 17. The upgrades and the additional campsite resulted in the campsites being renumbered so be sure to check the state park website for the correct number of the campsite you want to reserve. The rest of Campground #2 opens March 1 and reservations are accepted up to six months prior to arrival from March through November.

The cost of the campsite upgrade was $355,865 with funding from both the state parks earnings fund and the parks, soils and water sales tax.

In addition to campgrounds, the park features a full-service marina with a dive shop and boat and personal watercraft rentals, a paved walking and bicycling trail, picnic sites and access to Table Rock Lake.

To make a camping reservation, call toll free at 800-ICampMo (877-422-6766) from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. CT seven days a week or visit 24 hours a day.
