JEFFERSON CITY, MO. - Gov. Jay Nixon announced the Missouri Department of Natural Resources has awarded the Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District with a $23,000,000 low interest loan. During tough economic times, this infusion of loan funding will help the district protect its system users and the environment by making necessary wastewater system improvements. The loan funds will be used for three different construction projects. The Lemay Wastewater Treatment Plant will be improved to provide additional treatment capacity for wet weather flows. The Creve Coeur Creek project consists of rehabilitation of the existing 20 year old pump station. System-wide investigations will be performed to identify inflow and infiltration sources for the third project.

The department's Water Protection Program will administer the grant funds. The Department is committed to working closely with communities to assist with funding efforts that support water and wastewater infrastructure improvement projects as well as provide a financial savings.
