JEFFERSON CITY, MO. -- In an effort to ensure that the public has an opportunity to provide input regarding services in state parks and historic sites, the Missouri Department of Natural Resources invites you to bring your ideas to an informational meeting on Thursday, Oct. 22, to discuss issues related to Battle of Lexington State Historic Site in Lexington. The meeting will be held from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the site's visitor center and is open to the public.
Recent accomplishments at the site and future plans will be highlighted during the informational meeting. The agenda will include discussion of the 150th anniversary of the Civil War in 2011, involvement in various regional tourism initiatives and the impact of budget constraints. Visitors are invited to share comments on the site's services and operation. Based partially on previous comments and input from the public, the Department has completed several outdoor interpretive kiosks on the battlegrounds.
