JEFFERSON CITY, MO., -- In an effort to ensure that the public has an opportunity to provide input regarding services in state parks and historic sites, the Missouri Department of Natural Resources invites you to bring your ideas to an informational meeting Saturday, Aug. 8, at Cuivre River State Park near Troy. The informational meeting will begin at 1 p.m. in the park's visitor center and is open to the public.

Recent accomplishments at the park and future plans will be highlighted during the informational meeting. Additionally, plans to reroute and improve the quality of the park's hiking and equestrian trails will be discussed, based on input received from an equestrian focus group composed of members from Show-Me Missouri Backcountry Horseman and local equestrian users. New changes in the park's camping registration and reservation system will be presented. Based partially on previous comments and input from the public, the Department has also added more parking to the public beach area, allowing more people to visit and enjoy the beach. Visitors are invited to share comments on the park's services and operations.

Cuivre River State Park is located three miles east of Troy on Highway 47.  Persons requiring special services or accommodations to attend the meeting can make arrangements by calling the Cuivre River State Park directly at 636-528-7247 or by calling the department toll free at 800-334-6946 (voice) or 800-379-2419 (Telecommunications Device for the Deaf).  For information about state parks and historic sites, visit the Web at
