JEFFERSON CITY, MO., -- In an effort to ensure that the public has an opportunity to provide input regarding services provided in state parks and historic sites, the Missouri Department of Natural Resources invites you to bring your ideas to an informational meeting on Sunday, Aug. 9, 2009, at Van Meter State Park near Miami. The informational meeting will be begin at 2 p.m. in Missouri's American Indian Cultural Center located in the park and is open to the public.
Recent accomplishments at the park and future plans will be highlighted during the informational meeting. Park staff will unveil new hand-held listening devices that will help visitors experience various American Indian stories and legends. Based partially on previous comments and input from the public, the Department has installed a new playground and completed a series of programs for the Missouri State Parks and Historic Sites Explorer Program. Visitors are invited to share comments on the park's services and operations.
Van Meter State Park is located 12 miles northwest of Marshall on Highway 122 in Saline County.
