JEFFERSON CITY, MO., JULY 15, 2009 -- Not sure what to do with the kids this summer? Bring them to the Missouri State Museum on Tuesdays in July at 2 p.m. for exciting educational programs. Sponsored by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, these programs will take place in the first floor rotunda in the State Capitol and are free and open to the public.
Guests will discover a different program each week as they explore Missouri's cultural and natural history. The "Tuesdays @ 2" programs will cover the following topics:
- July 21: "Can You Dig It?" -- This program will unlock the secrets to Missouri's hidden history and uncover the world of archaeology. There will even be a "mini dig" for you to take part in during the event.
- July 28: Civil War Mock Cannon Demonstration -- Learn how Civil War soldiers loaded and fired the largest weapon in their arsenal - the cannon. You will learn the techniques with the museum's mock cannon that fires foamlike cannon balls.
The Missouri State Museum is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is located inside the Missouri State Capitol at 201 W. Capitol Avenue.
