JEFFERSON CITY, MO, -- The Missouri Air Conservation Commission will hold a public meeting at 9 a.m. on June 25 at the Missouri Department of Natural Resources' Elm Street Conference Center, 1730 East Elm St. in Jefferson City.

At this meeting, the commission will hear routine reports from Department staff regarding air permits, operations and enforcement actions. A public hearing will also be held on several state implementation plan actions.

The commission will hear testimony related to the Missouri State Implementation Plan -- Missouri Regional Haze Plan. The Missouri Regional Haze Plan was developed to meet the requirements of the federal Regional Haze Rule.  The Department is revising Missouri's plan.  For more information on this action plan, visit the Department's website at www.dnr.mo.gov/env/apcp/stateplanrevisions.htm.

The Department will also hear testimony on Missouri's State Implementation Plan for the Doe Run Herculaneum Lead Nonattainment Area.  Currently, Herculaneum does not meet the federal health-based standard for lead.  This plan revision is designed to bring the Herculaneum lead nonattainment area into compliance with the National Ambient Air Quality Standard.  For more information on this action plan, visit the Department's website at www.dnr.mo.gov/env/apcp/stateplanrevisions.htm.

In addition, the commission also intends to continue its discussions on Missouri's odor regulations. Pre-draft odor language has been posted on the Air Pollution Control Program's Rules in Development Web page for comment since the last commission meeting. Staff will present comments received on this language at the meeting. The commission has spent considerable time and heard many comments on this issue and will keep in mind the many views of the odor workgroup participants and Missouri citizens as they work toward a solution.
