Learn about earthquake awareness at Onondaga State Park Feb. 28
In recognition of Earthquake Awareness Month, Onondaga Cave State Park will host “Shake and Quake: Earthquake Preparedness is in the Bag!” on Saturday, Feb. 28. Sponsored by Missouri State Parks, the event will take place in the park’s visitor center at 11 a.m. The program is free and open to the public.
Consider joining interpretive staff from Missouri State Parks, Missouri Geological Survey and the State Emergency Management Agency to learn about earthquake basics, earthquake history, and most important of all earthquake preparedness. This program will include an introduction to the State Emergency Management Agency programs related to earthquakes. After the program, a short video about earthquakes in the Central U.S. will be shown. Refreshments will be provided and there will be plenty of time for questions and answers. Handouts will also be available to assist in earthquake preparedness.
Onondaga Cave State Park is located seven miles southeast of the Leasburg exit off of Interstate 44 on Highway H. For more information on state parks and historic sites, visit mostateparks.com. Missouri State Parks is a division of the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.
