Jefferson Landing hosts Landing After Hours – Robert Wells and the Missouri State Seal May 1
JEFFERSON CITY, MO, APRIL 25, 2019 – The Missouri State Museum will present the program “Robert Wells and the Missouri State Seal” as part of its ongoing Museum After Hours series at 7 p.m., May 1. Sponsored by Missouri State Parks, the program will move to the Jefferson Landing State Historic Site for 2019.
The Missouri General Assembly adopted the Great Seal of the State of Missouri on Jan. 11, 1822, just months after Missouri obtained statehood. Join historian Henry Gensky as he tells the story of the designer of the seal, Judge Robert William Wells, and the meaning behind the seal's symbols.
The Missouri State Museum’s After Hour events are held the first Wednesday of each month. Doors to the Lohman Building will open at 6 p.m. with the program starting at 7 p.m. Come early to explore the historic site by entering through the track-side doors before the program. The program will be held in the first floor classroom, easily accessed from the south entrance door. Convenient parking is available in the lot next to the Lohman Building.
