The Missouri Department of Natural Resources is pleased to announce applications are now being accepted for the 2016 Summer Professional Development Program.

The Summer Professional Development Program is designed to provide college students or recent graduates with real-life experience working alongside the Department’s engineers, scientists, natural resource managers and other professionals. There are paid and unpaid opportunities. Most majors will be considered with special consideration given to: Agriculture, Architecture, Atmospheric Science, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Environmental Science, Geography, Historic Preservation, History, Interpretation, Landscaping, Museum Studies, Natural Resources, Parks and Recreation, Tourism, Accounting, Business Administration and Human Resources.

The Missouri Department of Natural Resources' mission is to protect our air, land and water; preserve our unique natural and historic places; and provide recreational and learning opportunities for everyone. The department's mission requires a diverse workforce statewide and includes 87 state parks and historic sites throughout Missouri.Opportunities with the Summer Professional Development Program exist statewide. Students can apply to any or all of the following programs with opportunities: Division of Environmental Quality, Missouri State Parks, Missouri Geological Survey and Division of Administrative Services (for non-science majors).

“Early Bird” application deadline is Dec. 18, 2015. Applications received by 5 p.m. on that date will be forwarded to hiring supervisors for review on Dec. 21. Selections may be made by supervisors between Dec. 21 and Feb. 15; however, the department will continue to accept new applications through Feb. 15, 2016 (hard deadline). New applications (those received between Dec. 21 and Feb. 15) will be forwarded to hiring supervisors on Feb. 16 for review. No further applications will be accepted after Feb. 15, 2016. Notifications of placement will be made by March 15, 2016. It is highly recommended that applicants submit their application materials by the “Early Bird” deadline to ensure consideration.
