Compliance and Enforcement Section
What we do
The Hazardous Waste Program's Compliance and Enforcement Section works to ensure compliance with hazardous waste, Polychlorinated Biphenyls, also known as PCBs, and underground storage tank laws and regulations. The section works closely with the regional and satellite offices to monitor compliance among the regulated community and make violators operate within the standards set forth by state and federal laws and regulations.
The Hazardous Waste Enforcement Unit oversees and guides compliance with hazardous waste laws and regulations. The Tanks Compliance and Enforcement Unit enforces the Missouri petroleum and underground storage tank laws and regulations, along with providing technical and operational assistance. The Special Facilities Unit inspects commercial hazardous waste treatment, storage and disposal facilities, inspects hazardous waste transporters, reviews hazardous waste manifests and inspects Missouri PCB facilities.
Copies of the Missouri Revised Statutes, including the Missouri Hazardous Waste Management Law and Petroleum Storage Tank Law, are available online through the Missouri General Assembly website. Copies of the Code of State Regulations are available from the Missouri Secretary of State's Office at 573-751-4015.
