Director's Office

The Hazardous Waste Program's Director's Office is responsible for the overall guidance and direction of the program and its activities.   The Director's Office provides coordination among the program's sections and with the department's other programs and divisions, other state agencies, the regulated community, and the public.  Director's Office staff respond to inquiries from legislators, interested citizens, and other state agencies and participates in division committees.  The Director's Office has the opportunity to influence national policy through participation in the Association of State and Territorial Solid Waste Management Officials and other groups.

The Director's Office also oversees and coordinates the program's rulemaking, authorization, and legislative activities.  Rulemaking is the process of promulgating new or amended hazardous waste regulations to implement the statutes.  Authorization is the ongoing process of gaining federal consent from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for the Hazardous Waste Program to execute federal laws and regulations in Missouri.
