Hazardous Waste Program
The Missouri Department of Natural Resources' Hazardous Waste Program assists the Missouri Hazardous Waste Management Commission, which was established by state statute. The governor appoints the commission's seven members who each serve a four-year term.
The commission promotes hazardous waste recycling, reuse and reduction; adopts and modifies rules to implement the hazardous waste statutes; holds hearings on rules, complaints and permit appeals; and is empowered to grant variances.
By law, interests in agriculture, the hazardous waste management industry and the hazardous waste generation industry must be represented on the commission. All members shall be representative of the general interest of the public and shall have an interest in and knowledge of waste management and the effects of improper waste management on the health and the environment. No more than four commissioners can be members of the same political party.
Thursday, April 17, 2014, starting at 10 a.m.
Meetings are held at Bennett Spring / Roaring River Conference Rooms Elm Street Conference Center at 1730 E. Elm St. in Jefferson City.
The commission regularly reserves time on the agenda for public comments or questions concerning hazardous waste issues. Please contact the commission secretary at 573-751-2747 if you have any questions regarding the Hazardous Waste Management Commission meeting.
