Meet the Division of Environmental Quality Deputy Directors
Steve Feeler graduated from Rolla High School in 1974 and from the University of Missouri at Rolla in 1979 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering. Feeler went to work for the Missouri Department of Natural Resources in November of 1979 in the Air Pollution Control Program. Feeler spent 30 years in the air program, ultimately spending 16 years as the Chief of Enforcement and Compliance. In November of 2009, Feeler became the Deputy Director of the Division of Environmental Quality. His areas of responsibilities are Air Pollution, Water Pollution, Land Reclamation and Environmental Services. Feeler is married and the father of three children.
Aaron Schmidt graduated from Blair Oaks High School in 1988 and from the University of Missouri – Rolla in 1992 with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Geological Engineering. Schmidt went to work for the Missouri Department of Natural Resources in January of 1993 in the Hazardous Waste Program. Schmidt spent 17 years in the Hazardous Waste Program in different capacities as unit chief in the Permits Section as well as the Federal Facilities Section, taking the Section Chief position in 2008. In November of 2009, Schmidt became the Deputy Division Director of the Division of Environmental Quality. His areas of responsibilities are Hazardous Waste Program, Solid Waste Management Program and Public Drinking Water Branch technical reviews. Schmidt is married to his wife Connie, and they have a son, Tanner.
