Air Pollution Control Program

Greater St. Louis Area Vehicle Repair Industry Survey

During the 2006 Missouri General Assembly, legislation was passed to change the vehicle emissions inspection and maintenance (I/M) program in St. Louis . Proposed changes would take effect in September 2007. We are seeking your input on several design options for the new program. Please provide your responses to the website, the address or the fax number below no later than June 30, 2006, so that they may be considered in the planning of the next I/M program.

Senate Bill 583 passed by the Missouri General Assembly requires the implementation of an emissions I/M program redesign with decentralized, or licensed, stations performing emissions inspections using the on-board diagnostics (OBD) test on 1996 and newer model year vehicles. Anyone choosing to meet the state's criteria and apply to the state would receive a license to conduct emissions testing and/or repairs. Now that this legislation has passed:
