Noah Cadwell selected as March 2025 Missouri Department of Natural Resources Team Member of the Month

JEFFERSON CITY, MO, MARCH 19, 2025 – Noah Cadwell, a hydrologist with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources’ Missouri Geological Survey, has been selected as the department’s Team Member of the Month for March 2025.

Cadwell works on watershed scale projects like the Lower Osage River Feasibility Study and the Gasconade River Planning Assistance to States Study, which require him to integrate concepts of ecosystem restoration with his background in geoscience.

“As part of the Lower Osage River Feasibility Study, we needed to engage community members in the vicinity of project locations in a short amount of time,” said John Horton, Cadwell’s supervisor, who nominated him for the award. “Noah got straight to work and quickly produced a summary of information that allowed us to meet with landowners and make the best use of everyone’s time.”

Over the last year, Cadwell has led an effort to compile a user guide about stream management for landowners. Compiling a guide like this involves juggling technical and policy details while also balancing the information with the needs and concerns of landowners to make sure the guide is useful.

Throughout the project, he demonstrated skills beyond his duties as a hydrologist, including writing text for the guide and keeping things organized while collaborating with stakeholders. The resulting document, titled “A Landowner’s Guide to Stream Management,” will be a resource for Missouri’s landowners for years to come.

Cadwell joined the Missouri Department of Natural Resources in May 2021 and resides in Columbia.
