JEFFERSON CITY, MO, MARCH 19, 2025 – After a cold and snowy winter, the team at Crowder State Park is ready to welcome guests with lots of fun-filled events planned.
- Tuesdays, April 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29 at 9 a.m. and again at 1 p.m. – Toddler Tuesday.
Looking for a fun activity for your children? Bring your toddlers and other preschool-aged children to the park’s Toddler Tuesday programs. Meet at the Camp Grand River Recreation Hall. A different theme will be featured each week as participants make a nature craft, listen to a nature book or two and do an activity such as a walk or an experiment to learn about nature. Each week will include a morning session and a repeat in the afternoon. These events are free and open to the public and no registration is needed.
- Saturday, April 5 at 8 a.m. – Volunteer Work Day.
The Crowder State Park team is seeking participants for a volunteer work day. Projects include litter cleanup, trail work, group camp cleanup, invasive plant control and more. Volunteer by yourself, with your family or with a group or organization. Volunteers should bring water and work gloves and meet at the Camp Grand River Recreation Hall to sign in and receive project assignments.
- Saturdays, April 5, 12, 19, 26 at 9 a.m. – Spring Hikes.
Join Crowder State Park team members for guided hikes this spring. Hike each trail to discover the beauty and diversity of the park. As participants hike, we will discuss the spring wildflowers and other plant species. These hikes are free and open to the public, and registration is not required. Participants should bring water and wear clothing and footwear that is appropriate and comfortable for the weather conditions.- April 5 – Redbud Trail (2 miles); meet at Campground Amphitheater.
- April 12 – River Forks Trail (2 miles); meet at Lake Parking Lot.
- April 19 – Tall Oaks Trail (3.2 miles); meet at Shelter 3 Parking Lot.
- April 26 – Thompson River Trail, North Loop (3.8 miles); meet at Equestrian Parking Lot.
- Friday, April 25 at 5 p.m. through Sunday, April 27 at 10 a.m. – Outdoor Discovery Camp.
Join the park team at Camp Grand River, Crowder’s organized group camp, for a weekend-long outdoor experience! This event will include hands-on learning, as well as guided experiences and informative programs. Try something for the first time, such as archery, atlatl or orienteering. Learn about native snakes or discover some DIY camping tips and tricks. Find out how to safely and efficiently forage for food or try your hand at fishing. With more than 20 activities to choose from throughout the day, there will be something for everyone! Participants may either stay in the cabins at Camp Grand River or set up a tent on the grounds of the group camp. Each cabin has bunk beds, restrooms and showers, and can accommodate up to 19 people. All meals will be provided. Participants must be at least 10 years old and participants under the age of 18 years must be accompanied by an adult. Preregistration is required and can be completed by calling the park office at 660-359-6473.
